Muse Nexus Money HQ

Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 August 2026 · Applies to the Money HQ Android app and musenexus.ca

The short version. Money HQ is a tool for keeping track of your own money. It is not a bank, it does not move money, and it does not give financial advice. Your data lives on your device, so you are the one who has to back it up. Paid plans are yearly, renew automatically, and are cancelled through whichever store you bought them from. If any of this doesn't suit you, don't use the app — that's the whole deal.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Muse Nexus, the developer of Money HQ ("we", "us"). "Money HQ" and "the app" mean the Money HQ Android application, the web version at musenexus.ca, and any related services we provide.

By installing or using the app you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. Your use of the app is also covered by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

2. What Money HQ is — and what it is not

Money HQ is a record-keeping and budgeting tool. You type in what you earn, spend, owe and own, and it organises it, adds it up and shows it back to you.

It is not a financial institution and not an adviser. Money HQ does not hold, transfer, invest or lend money. Nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and no number it displays is a recommendation to do anything. Decisions about your money are yours, and you should take professional advice where it matters.

Specifically, Money HQ does not:

Figures the app calculates

Some features estimate rather than measure — projections, dividend forecasts, currency conversions, loan and mortgage schedules, retirement and savings projections, and anything derived from a rate that changes over time. These are illustrations based on the numbers you entered and assumptions we chose. They are not promises, and they will not match your bank, your broker or your accountant to the cent. Where the app converts between currencies, the rate is the one available when the entry was recorded; it is not a dealing rate and no currency is actually exchanged.

Reading notifications and receipts

Where you switch on features that read payment notifications or scan a receipt photo to suggest an entry, those suggestions are a convenience and are frequently wrong in small ways. Check them before you rely on them. Nothing is added to your records from these features without you confirming it.

3. Your account, and your responsibility for your data

Most of Money HQ works with no account at all. An account is only needed for the features that share data between people — Family sharing and Split & Settle. If you create one, keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

Back up your own data. Because the app is offline-first, your records live in storage on your device and nowhere else unless you have signed in and enabled a sharing feature. If you uninstall the app, clear its storage, lose the device, or the device fails, that data is gone and we cannot recover it for you. The app has a built-in export — use it. How often you export is your decision, and the consequences of not exporting are yours too.

4. Acceptable use

Use the app for your own record-keeping, and for the household or group you actually belong to. Do not:

We may suspend or close an account that does these things. Where we can do so reasonably, we will tell you why.

5. Shared households and groups

Family sharing and Split & Settle work by showing your entries to the other people in that household or group. That is the point of the feature, and it means anything you add to a shared space can be seen by everyone in it. Think of a shared group as a shared notebook, not a private one.

Whoever creates a household or group controls who is invited to it. If you leave, entries you already contributed generally remain visible to the group so its totals still add up. If you do not want something seen by the group, do not put it in the group.

Balances shown between members are a record of what the group has agreed among itself. We are not a party to any debt between members and we do not settle, collect or enforce anything. Money actually changes hands between you, outside the app.

6. Children

The Kids area is a feature for a parent or guardian to run on their own device. A child does not get an account, a login or any presence on our systems, and we collect no personal information from children — see the Privacy Policy for the detail.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live in order to accept these terms. If you set up a kid profile, you confirm you are that child's parent or guardian and you are responsible for their use of the app.

7. Plans, payment and renewals

Money HQ has a free tier that is genuinely free and not a trial. Paid plans unlock additional features.

PlanPriceBilled
Free$0
Individual$19.99Per year
Couple$29.99Per year
Family$39.99Per year

Prices are in Canadian dollars unless the store you buy from shows otherwise, and they may be shown to you inclusive or exclusive of tax depending on where you are.

Renewals and cancelling

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel first. Cancel through whichever store you bought the plan from — for an Android purchase that is your Google Play subscriptions page, not the app and not us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for, and you keep the paid features until that period ends.

Refunds

Purchases made through an app store are refunded under that store's refund policy, and that store — not us — decides. Where a purchase was made directly from us and the law where you live gives you a right to cancel or a refund, that right applies and nothing here removes it. Outside of those, we do not offer partial refunds for an unused part of a period.

If prices or plans change

We may change prices or what a plan includes. A price change applies from your next renewal, never retroactively, and we will tell you before it takes effect so you can cancel if you would rather not continue.

8. Availability, changes and ending the service

Because the app is offline-first, the parts that matter most keep working whether or not our servers do. The features that need the cloud — sign-in, Family sharing, Split & Settle — depend on services we do not control, and they will sometimes be slow or unavailable. We do not promise any particular uptime.

We may add, change or remove features. If we ever discontinue the service, or a paid feature you are relying on, we will give reasonable notice through the app so you can export your data first — and where you have paid for a period you cannot now use, we will refund the unused part.

9. Our content and yours

The app itself — its code, design, name and artwork — belongs to us, and these terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it. That licence ends if you stop using the app or if we close your account for a breach of these terms.

Your financial records are yours. We claim no ownership of anything you enter. Where you use a sharing feature, you give us only the permission technically required to store your entries and show them to the people you chose to share them with — nothing more, and never a licence to use your data for anything else. The Privacy Policy covers what we do and do not do with it.

10. Limits on our liability

The app is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every figure it produces is accurate. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost savings, lost or corrupted data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app — including a decision you made based on a number it displayed.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Money HQ in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some places do not allow these exclusions. Nothing in these terms removes any consumer right you have that cannot legally be waived — including, in Canada, rights under applicable consumer protection legislation.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Money HQ at any time by uninstalling it; if you have an account you can delete it from within the app or at musenexus.ca/delete-account. Deleting an account removes the data we hold in the cloud for it. It does not delete the records stored on your own device — you control those.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 4, or where we are required to by law.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the laws of the province or territory in which Muse Nexus is established. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the place you live, and nothing here requires you to bring a claim anywhere those laws say you need not.

13. Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Money HQ after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app — and, if you are on a paid plan you can no longer use because of the change, contact us for a refund of the unused part.
